Swarland Village Hall is a registered Charity (1058471) . The Hall – a Grade II listed building – is owned by Newton on the Moor & Swarland Parish Council and leased to the Charity which runs the hall on a day to day basis.
In its lifetime, it has been used for raising chickens but was originally built as part of the Fountains Abbey Settlement in the 1930’s, a revolutionary community settlement aimed at giving the unemployed a chance to start life again on a self supporting basis.
